Gratitude for the year and making the TA known in the Chicago area
CHICAGO, Il.- Friends of St Pedro Poveda and of the Teresian Association (T.A.) in the area of Chicago anticipated the celebration of Thanksgiving with prayer and a meal at the Victoria Center on November 17, 2019.
In addition of giving thanks for the blessings received during the year they wanted to make the TA known to an extended circle of family, friends and coworkers.
At the Victoria Center a display was prepared with information materials available and a big bilingual display with the mission, places and spirituality of the TA. This was an opportunity to individually explain and respond to questions from new guests.
There was a Thanksgiving prayer before the meal, prepared by Elsa Hernández and Alma Navarro who coordinated the event with TA members in the area.
“This is my first time here, and I felt so welcome”, said Jack Mayer. “I plan to come back over and over again”.
On her part, Rose Molas pointed out to the “richness in the group. We can do anything we set our minds too… the more the merrier!”
Juan Ortíz is a medical doctor. He explained that he and his wife Lucero are “looking forward to our commitment, as members of the Association”. But also looking forward “to get engaged in the mission with what I can offer: our knowledge as a doctor, a physical therapist, and ´budding´ theologian”.
The event has been “ a great effort on the part of everyone involved in assembling the display, doing the cooking, sending invitations, and preparing the prayer” said Beth Alcazar, “A great effort and a worthwhile one. A celebration of our life and mission”, she added.
Nelly Lorenzo could not hide her enthusiasm and asked. “So, what can we do and when do we start?”. (Information and photos from Chicago TA)
